TIP OVER SHUTDOWN UNIT  TIP-1

 

A relay output is provided so in the event of detecting a tip over  angle  of 45 degrees (+/-10 Deg) or more  IN ANY DIRECTION, it is used turn off Ignition (magneto) or the fuel solenoid. The microprocessor is programed to compensate for bouncing around, dips and moving side to side. IF tripped it would mean the machine is turned over.

 

NOTICE the Green "OK" LED in the Demo Video,

it turns off after the unit stops on it's side

 

 Power must be turned OFF and reapplied to initiate a reset

 by ignition the switch, the unit operates off of the machine's 12 volt supply.

 

 

UNIT CONNECTIONS

 

The RED wire is to be connected to the Load side of the Ignition switch. So that when the switch is turned OFF there is NO power to the unit. IF there is a FAULT (Tip Over) the unit MUST be turned OFF and back ON after at least 5 Seconds to reset.

 

The Ground is the return to the battery, in most cases the frame.

 

The Output Relay will be turned ON when the GREEN LED is ON, indicating there is NO Tip Over or FAULT.

 

In the NO FAULT condition, the BLUE and YELLOW are switched together.

 

IF there is a FAULT then the  BLUE and GREEN are switched together.

 

This is a 10 AMP. Relay, to turn off the fuel or ignition.  It can also be used to sound a loud external alarm. The trip angle is 45 Deg. +/-10 Deg. Use the diagram below WITH OUT the Internal Alarm or External Lamp /LED options. The basic block diagram and colors are the same.

The above unit "Tip-1" is a Basic Unit used to only shutdown an engine in the event of an actual Roll Over. It trips at a sustained angle greater the 45 Deg. +/- 10 Deg. (60 Deg. +/- 10 Optional) It provides a SPDT relay output capable of 10 Amps. Max.

INCLINOMETER DANGEROUS ANGLE ALARM TIP-2

 It is very easy to ride into a dangerous angle situation unaware. This unit would be continuously monitoring the riding angle to alert the operator should that occur.

 

The unit monitors the X and Y angles independently and can be set to different angles. For example the X being Front to Back to 25 degrees and the Y being Left to Right to 15 degrees. Even the Front to Back angles can be different from each other.

 

The dampening and response time can be set to your requirements. The unit automatically resets after it is returned to a safe angle.  There are two options, one is with the internal Floyd Bell High Output Piezo Alarm (Shown) and the other an output lead to turn on an external alarm or indicator.

 

This is a low cost effective safety option.

IT IS VERY EASY TO SLOWLY RIDE INTO A DANGEROUS ANGLE SITUATION UNAWARE.

THIS UNIT WILL BE CONTINUOUSLY ON GUARD TO ALERT YOU, SHOULD THAT HAPPEN!

 

In addition to the RollOver Switch function shown on the Home Page, this unit has a built in Inclinometer. It measures the relative angle in all directions, X & Y values are added. This results in extra caution IF the machine is operated at a diagonal on a hillside (The most dangerous). There are three Alarm Set Points, the first is a short beep every second. The Second is consecutive short beeps and the Third is continuous, with the Piezo Alarm Option. IF the unit has the Lamp / LED Driver option then what were beeps would be illuminations at a remote point on the machine for the operator to see.

 

  The counter option is capable of recording the total number of Third Degree Alarms

The above unit TIP-3 In addition to the Roll Over shutdown relay out put has a FET Driver output that can operate an external alarm or Lamp / LED  by supplying a ground return for the indicator capable of handling 1/2 Amp. (Via a White Wire) The internal inclinometer board will produce a warning at three different programmable levels of urgency, Slow Pulse, fast Pulse and solid on.

 

For an internal 105db alarm add $6.00 and the letter "A" Tip-3A (High quality Floyd Bell Inc)

For an internal non-volatile counter that counts the highest alarm level add $10.00 and the letter "C" to the part number Ex TIP-3C  or TIP-3AC for both.

Safe Not Rolled Over IF Green

This unit "TIP-4" in addition to having the same features as the above Alarm Unit, it also has an additional independently programmable relay output to control the operation of an implement. For example the ability to raise the vehicle's bed or boom only if below a safe vehicle angle or turn off a cutting blade.

 

The unit shown has a Molex waterproof automotive connector. It also has the ability to be programmed for two different alarm and  operating conditions (Selectable by a pin in the connector) This makes it possible to only stock one unit for two different applications when used by an Original Equipment Manufacturer.

The Relay used to shutdown in the event of a rollover is operated in a failsafe mode, that is, Energized when there is NO Fault, that way should the relay fail it will not go unnoticed.

 

The above unit has a 12 Pin Molex Automotive Grade connector. The unit has Two Separate sets of operating parameters for alarm set-points . The one used is selected by a jumper in the mating connector. This enables the end user to use one device for two different products, lowering inventory cost.

 

This unit can be programed with different functionality as needed.

In this demonstration the rotary table is being driven slowly so it is possible to see the Three distinctive levels of warning that can be given  seen by the center LED.

 

In this example the Left LED is the Implement Enabled indicator. You will see that the implement is enabled even during the first warning level (Slow Beep). As the table continues to rotate increasing the angle you will notice the middle LED will flash rapidly (Fast Beeping) and the implement LED turns OFF (For example Cutting Blades)

 

As the angle continues to increase the center Alarm LED will be full on as a final alarm of eminent Danger. We use and recommend Floyd Bell Alarms for reliability.

The above demonstration is moving very slowly so you can better see the alarm points as they change.

WINDOW MOUNTED ANGLE MONITOR TIP-5

 

The Window Unit is very helpful with equipment that has stabilizing out rigs.  It measures in all directions (Pitch=X and Roll=Y) front, back, left and right

 

 Dampening and response can be set to your requirements. An alarm output is also available for when the red LED is ON.

 

This unit has four LEDs from Left to Right

 

FOR EXAMPLE

Blue    = Flat and level with in 1 Degree

Green = Within 15 Degrees or Custom Angle

Yellow = 1 Degree Above the Green Set Point

Red     = 2+ Degrees Above the Green Set Point

 

THESE SET POINTS CAN BE CUSTOM SET TO YOUR REQUIREMENTS
